Why Do You Blog?
July 19th 2008 23:29
Do you have some special interest to share?
Or do you have other motives that spur you on in blogging?
Over the coming weeks I want to explore what reasons we define as bloggers and what the main motivations are for blogging.
Is it a sense of community?
Or are you just so into a specific topic that you want to write about it alot?
Or is it financial?, maybe you heard that blogging could make you money by writing unique content!
Whatever the case may be, blogging is a very useful tool for sharing your thoughts, ideas and expertise!
Blog writers on the internet write things that interest them, then they start to think about others who may read what they write!

Second off, because it's a way to be heard-and the community here is really great. And I think I actually do get heard.

At first it was the lure of money, that soon petered out when I realised it wasn't going to instantly be the cash-cow I thought it would... still, I think I posted about 18 posts in one month back then, good news for a writer who would always forget to write down her feelings and a poet who had stopped writing poetry... As is the way of life (thankfully) things change and soon my yen for money turned to the discovery of real people on the other end of keyboards ..soon I was making friends and sicussing topics across across great distances.
I've even met a couple in person ... but sadly, my family neglected, I was adicted and had become a blogaholic.
*tongue in cheek*
I am now a recovering blogaholic with a strict regime to stop me from loosing myself and my family again ...

/but seriously/ ...from my observation and to be philosophical : blogging seems to be a great way of seeing yourself and working through major flaws (real or imaginary), often by talking about the very things that have been taboo throughout your life through family/peer pressure.
In the blogosphere i realised all are a little insane, some more than others... and I'm writing still, always a good sign...
I look forward to your romp and expose through blogging and it's intricacies
Lilla ...
PS Oh and I did get paid in the end, too!

For many it's about belonging, creating new friendships and networking in a way only the blogosphere can afford.
Where else can I talk about sport to a bloke from Tulsa, discuss vinyl and music with gal from Texas or simply chew the fat with mums, dads, 20-somethings and everyone in between from Melbourne, Sydney, Canada, South East Asia?
Stay well

My desire to write has always been suppressed by indolence. I have an industrial-strength talent for indolence, matched only by my ability to ignore any motivational influence. It's a powerful affliction. Psychiatrists refer to it by its Latin name, "Bastardus lazium".
I was told about blogging several years ago - another friend trying another approach to mobiIise my derriere. I resisted and resisted, until finally I cracked and tried it and ...
I am saved! Praise the Blogosphere! I haven't stopped writing since and I wake up each morning with a fire in my belly to create yet another pithy and personal take on life.
I hope you don't mind me putting a link here to my blog, but I recently wrote a piece about my favourite reasons to write, which are pretty much my favourite reasons to blog, and so it seems appropriate. It is here.
Regards,
Chris
