What's The Point Of Commenting On Other Blogs?
July 14th 2008 15:27
Taking time out to comment on others blogs takes a little time and effort and if you do this on similar blogs to yours that have similar content, then you are gaining a fast track for more new readers or at the very least some more blog traffic.
One of the best ways I do this, is to search on Google for the same main keywords as mine and then type in blog at the end, you are more likely to come up with new blogs at least once every week (or Two Weeks!) when you do this, save them in your favourites flder for commenting and reading at a later date, but always try to comment on the recently updated ones, because if they have not updated in a while then it's a waste of your time commenting, when they might not reply back or see where the commenters profile link goes to.
You might want to join feedburner or some other subscriber staistic ste that will count your subscribers and even visitors to your blog, Google Analytics is a free useful tool that anyone can use, especially on Blogger this google tool can tell where your visitors came from, which country, what keywords they used to arrive at your blog and other useful metrics and statistics.
Another great way of keeping up to date with new keyword related sites and blogs you could potentially link to and comment on, and that is Google Alerts, here you can set up specific alerts based around your keywords that you want to keep track of, also you can keep track of all of your blog posts if you wish by typing in the full blog post, this may tell you if someone else has published your blog article/post elsewhere, but I usually just use this for finding new places to comment, and by commenting I mean not just a few lines like "Hey nice blog, I'm a blogger too wooohaaaa!
come see my blog" and that's it!
You need to be adding value in your comments, offering a personal insight into your work or topical niche, after all blogging is about building communities and blog networks, sharing ideas, information and useful debate.
