Blogger Coach - March 2009

If ever you have started a blog and have that classic thought of what the hell do I write next? then this post could possible help with some ideas, firstly there are some aspects and special methods that pro bloggers use and these are to help you plan your blog posts ahead, so that you can confidently agree and maintain your blogging momentum.

Mind mapping works quite well to some degree if you like to plan ahead then write in terms of specific words and phrases just start off with the general ones at first and then circle them on a piece of paper, these will be your top categories, then you can write other ideas and words surrounding the main words, don't worry if it all looks like just words,if you care about your blog then you will see what blog posts could come out of these mind maps.

You then repeat this process a couple of times, this should not take long as you are creating new ideas you then record them, I then type them up into a computer notepad and make them into full blog posts titles, usually by this time I have found a good handful of posts that I could schedule into my blog posting plan, depending on how many posts you post a day, you could have a few going out on one day and then a review of something going out the next day, it's up to you and how you work that matters to your blog.

Scheduling posts is important but in fact the most important thing above this is having the discpiline to follow through with it, I recommend you post a simple schedule on your wall near your computer screen of the most important blogging tasks you simply must do each and every day, so that you keep track of your top priorities as a blogger.

If you recieve some comments or even emails about your content this could give you an insight into your content and how it is precieved through the eyes of your readers and also give you the ideas to create new blog content from the responses that people write in your comments section.

I myself have found many good ideas and inspired blog post topics in the comments because quite thankfully there are other people in the world who think different to me and will have their own thoughts and opinions about a topic and this is something that can expand your blog too.

Planning ahead should not take long, just take out one hour each week and brainstorm those blog posts, because you will find that if you plan ahead then you will always have content each week that is new and enticing to your readers.
