Mixing Up Your Post Types

August 22nd 2008 19:10
Sometimes being crazy and extreme could be the way to go on your blog, but other times being very helpful and informative could also be the best option, but what are the different posting formats that you could use on your blog?

News posts - These are the informative blog posts that could take an objective view on your subject matter and take it to the factual level that you need, a product review of a new product or service for example is one way of providing a news blog post.

By being honest in your writing of the news that has been released about a product or service within your target market could also provide useful information for those who didn't catch the original press release from the original news source.

How To Posts - These are quite often the professional blog posts of choice as free and useful content far outweighs what you did at work whilst eating a bowl of noodles and gossiping about someone who has a big nose ( yes this happens!)

Useful free content that reads like you should be paying for it, is used by webmasters and bloggers who want to appear quite knowledgable in their subject matter, so they can build their business or library of content.

Personal Posts - These are the types of blog posts that most blogger eventually writes in some form, they feel that no matter how much they write about their expertise, they always feel the need to blog about a day in their life or something of personal importance, this is quite useful on random occasions as your readers may find it interesting especially as they have got to know you over time through your blog and then are suddenly presented with a personal story or life event.

Keeping these types of posts to a minimum, also keeps things fresh for the reader, you don't want to turn your niche blog into a rant about the state of the world through your opinion or anything like that, but on occasion this could provide a unique insight into your as a person that is easily relatable to your blog readership.

Guest Posts - These are great in many ways as you don't have to write, you just have to accept guest bloggers who will write the content for you in exchange for their blog link to be added at the end of their guest posts, this frees up a little time for you also and adds new content to your blog aswell as new insights that are written in a unique style.

Usually though guest blogging is a two way thing and you may find yourself writing for the other bloggers blog, but this is good to, it builds a relationship with other bloggers and quite often generates a bit of traffic and community within your target market, so it's all good either way!

These above are the main types of blog posts, but along the way you will find others that fit into your blog marketing that will be be useful in your blogging arsenal, just keep blogging about what you love and you will get seen and read often!

Over the time I have been blogging I have often found that the inclusion of images far outweigh what I expected within a blog post they draw the reader in almost.

A visual is like seeing what the blog could be about, but it could be also cryptic in nature too, as the image could only loosely relate, but still be enough to catch the readers eye, in between posts the addition of an image or photo breaks up the posts that are full of text and just makes it read that much better.

Also do not underestimate the importance of an image too, the inclusion of one could help your search engine rank too, as in most search engines there are web image searches being conducted quite often, especially through Google, for websites to find certain images of things that relate to specific things, who knows they may find your images that come up, and check out your blog.

It pays to be conscious of your blogs image, especially when it could bring you a slightly bit more traffic.

Blog Posts That Shine!

August 12th 2008 02:26
Blog posts that shine are the ones that are useful, entertaining, thought provoking and witty to coin a few phrases, but how do you gain a shining blog post that attracts readers or even comments for that matter?

Well there are many determining factors and not one of them are the same, but what it all comes down to is a plan of action being put into place from the outset.

First of all what you want to say is the priority, so with that out of the way you need to be thinking about how you will get more people to read your post, think about a couple of social networking sites or media sites to place some strategic social marketing backlinks leading back to your blog post, make sure this is a two way thing with add links at the bottom of your blog post.

Now while your post is nearly ready for being published, re write the title or optimize it further, more to your sites content, refine the keywords if you need to, as this will make all the difference, then once you have published your after checking it for spelling errors etc, you are ready to begin and implement your random but focused article marketing strategy.

I myself usually with my best blog posts, write an alternate version, one that is similar to the one I wrote for my blog post, but totally different (If that makes any sense!) because the alternate version is going to be placed on as many article directories as possible and then the linkback that I add to the author resource box at the end of the article will be the exact permalink of my original blog post.

Goarticles.com
Ezinearticles.com
Articledashboard.com
articlecity.com

The above article directories are 4 great ones but there are lots, and it is best if you go with the free to submit ones, by doing this you are driving more traffic to your site, if you have done some keyword research on your articles and blog post that is.

The title of a blog post is the number one draw for a reader, then follows the actual content and whether the content actually lives up to the hype of the blog title, so in conclusion, always aim for a goal in mind, be witty, be humourous and deliver a shining blog post everytime.

When blogging on a particular subject, it is always best to start as you mean to go on and by this I mean once you set something up it's best to narrow your focus on your blogs content more as each day passes.

It's so easy to go off on a tangent and try to be everything and the kitchen sink, I've done this in the past and sometimes I still have to pull myself back at times, by diluting your blogs focus you are setting yourself up for trouble along the way, not just with the search engines and the keyword paths you have already put in place, but you may lose readers when you try to be an every topic master on a broad range of subjects, as some of your readers only want to find out about the topics they subscribed to your blog for
